MARCO MED FORUM: Advancing Smart Ports, Sustainable Shipping, and Artificial Intelligence in the Maritime Sector

Global Spatial Technology Solutions (GSTS), a globally recognized, leading provider of artificial intelligence solutions for the maritime industry, is excited to host the inaugural MARCO MED FORUM. The event will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation in Piraeus, Greece.
The MARCO MED FORUM objective is to be the pivotal platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange on AI-powered digital transformation and operational optimisation in the Mediterranean’s maritime and port sectors.
A highlight of the program will be the live demonstration of the OCIANA® platform, showcasing real-world applications of artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency and sustainability of maritime operations.
By extending its global presence, GSTS continues to bring its proven expertise from its collaboration with major international players to Greece.
Among the distinguished speakers will be Dr. Maria Boile, Professor of Port and Terminal Policy and Management at the Department of Maritime Studies, University of Piraeus and Director of the Quantitative Analysis in Shipping Laboratory. She has served as Research Director at the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of the National Center for Research and Technology in Greece, and the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey in the US and is the Coordinator of the European Waterborne Technology Platform.

The forum will be structured around two thematic sessions:
• Digital collaboration and data sharing on a common platform with the ultimate goal of enabling Port Call Optimization and Just in Time Arrivals
• AI-powered predictive analytics and decision-making support for port risk and security management in an increasingly uncertain global environment
